Canada Day things to do

Looking for some great ways to celebrate the first long weekend of the summer in Southern Georgian Bay? Luckily for you, there are a variety of events going on along the shores of Georgian Bay!

Stop by Collingwood’s beautiful historic downtown core to find a Celebrity Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Collingwood Optimist Club from 8am – 11am on Friday July 1st in front of Town Hall. The meal will be prepared by Celebrity Chefs, $5 for adults and $3 for kids, with giant yard games to play while you wait for your meal! The Circus Company will be strolling down Hurontario Street from 11am – 3pm Friday, entertaining the masses with stilt walkers, lighted hula hoops & jugglers! Friday is also the kick off to Theatre Collingwood’s long awaited Porchside Festival with a free performance from Shipyard Kitchen Party at the Shipyards Amphitheatre at 7pm! Fireworks can be seen over the harbour at 10pm!

Visit Thornbury and Clarksburg for a Canada Day parade through both of these charming small towns, heading north on Marsh Street to King Street, Thornbury at 11am! Stop by the Thornbury harbour parkette for an afternoon full of live local entertainment, face painting, cake & caricatures from 11am – 2pm.

If you’re looking for a slower paced day, you can start your morning with yoga at the Meaford pier at 10am on Friday followed by guided canoe tours and iSUP lessons from The Canoe Project until 3pm or catch the Golden Town Cruisers Car Showdown on Bayfield Street, Meaford from 10am – 3pm. Looking for events for the kids? The Kid Zone will be located beside the Rotary Harbour Pavilion from 10am-4pm. and the Meaford Fire Department will be out and about with Sparky the Fire Dog from 12-4pm! Don’t miss a chance to catch the air show hosted by The Dam Pub at 12:50pm!

Head up to Blue Mountain Village to catch live music all day long from 12:30pm – 10:15pm! Or bring the kids to see a magic show with Sawyer Bullock at the Village Events Plaza at 1pm. Fireworks can be seen over the Mill Pond starting at 10:15pm!
